“Fracturing”
THE MANDALA PROJECT - How it came to life
If you know someone whose day would be brightened by this Mandala, please pass it along! Even more magical, with a love note from you!
The Mandala Project: #54
As I sat with this mandala listening for its message I wondered, “What is the wisdom in things fracturing and coming apart?”
It reminds me that everything is coursing with a creative life force whose nature it is to keep rearranging itself in new ways. Form must break again and again to become something that could not exist otherwise.
But knowing that doesn’t make it easier.
Rearrangements threaten the things we want intact. Relationships, beliefs, beloveds. Patterns that feel safe, circumstances that feel rewarding, ideas that feel right. Ways of being and acting and knowing that have gotten us this far.
But in the fragments of what we wish was unbreakable, we might begin to see the ways that its very solidness needs to fracture to support us in becoming the next thing we’re meant to be.
LETTING THE GROUND MOVE
There’s been a deeply unsettling volume of rage rising up in me lately. Little landmines in my internal world that keep shattering the illusion of a calm and peaceful being.
I don’t quite understand this wild energy, but it seems more powerful than my “sane” self. There’s a sense of the fracturing of a current layer of identity, one that the rage won’t let stand.
There is something deeper, not yet worked through, not yet claimed, that is determined to find voice and expression.
It’s painful and challenging to find myself yelling at my one year old pup for the most minor infractions, or hurling curses at the inanimate object I just tripped over. It seems this “done my work, I’m good now” version of self needs to break yet again, and this is its undoing. I typically don't write about things that I'm in the middle of, but this one may have a long middle, so I want to bookmark it here.
And to say to you, courageous friend, if some aspect of yourself or your experience keeps emerging that feels wrong or “not what you want it to be”, let’s trust it together. Let's be brave and and curious about what might be revealing itself to us in the breaking that’s essential.
Because haven’t you found that the very experiences that threatened to shatter you are the ones that also held the power to transform you into a more authentic, compassionate and wise version of yourself?
What if each time we rise to meet the falling apart of something we’ve held close, each time we confront our resistance and seek to become stronger, more flexible and resilient and open—what if we are actually being led to the awareness that we are made of the very thing which breaks us?
